Position Overview:
They are seeking a talented and motivated Geospatial Data Engineer to join the growing team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining scalable geospatial data systems that support our analytics and product development efforts. You will work closely with data scientists, software engineers, and domain experts to ensure that our geospatial data infrastructure is robust, efficient, and capable of supporting advanced geospatial analytics and applications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and Development: Develop and optimize geospatial data pipelines, storage solutions, and ETL processes for large-scale datasets.
- Data Integration: Integrate geospatial data from various sources (e.g., satellite imagery, GPS, GIS databases) into our data platforms.
- Data Management: Ensure the accuracy, quality, and integrity of geospatial datasets, including performing regular audits and updates.
- Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams to understand data needs and develop geospatial solutions that support business objectives.
- Tooling: Develop and maintain tools for data processing, analysis, and visualization, using languages like Python, SQL, and GIS software.
- Automation: Implement automation for data collection, processing, and integration tasks to improve efficiency and reduce manual work.
- Innovation: Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and technologies in geospatial data engineering and incorporate them into our practices.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Geography, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. A Master’s degree is a plus.
- Experience: 3+ years of experience in geospatial data engineering, GIS, or a related role.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, SQL, and experience with GIS tools like QGIS, ArcGIS.
- Experience with geospatial databases (e.g., PostGIS, GeoServer) and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure).
- Familiarity with big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark) is an advantage.
- Strong understanding of spatial data structures, algorithms, and analysis techniques.
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Communication: Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Team Player: Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
