Sub Project Lead - Commissioning

The energy transition requires innovative technical solutions to ensure a stable and future-proof electricity grid. As Sub Project Lead – Commissioning within our 2GW program you are responsible for the commissioning of the three Grid Connection Systems in Cluster Maasvlakte. Your expertise will focus on ensuring the successful delivery, with a strong emphasis on timely, high-quality, and cost-effective execution.
Your profile and background

What do you bring?
- Solution-oriented problem solver with a strong helicopter view, experienced in managing complex technical interfaces and aligning multidisciplinary teams and (internal and external) stakeholders in dynamic, high-pressure project environments—while maintaining focus on quality, safety and deadlines.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, clear and effective communication with stakeholders on project progress and challenges, and an excellent coordinator.
- Proactive, results-driven team player with a high level of professionalism, assertiveness, and flexibility—comfortable working on-site and capable of motivating and unifying others in dynamic project settings.
- Extensive technical expertise in high-voltage systems, with over 5 years of commissioning experience, experience with coordination of commissioning teams. Familiar with the principles, standards and regulations within the high voltage world. A BSc in Electrical Engineering or related field is required.
- Languages, fluency in English is required for this position, both written and spoken. Dutch is an advantage
- In possess a valid driving license, willing to work abroad and offshore in the future (from 2027 on worth maximal once every two months for 2 weeks)
Your contribution to TenneT
In the role of Sub Project Lead – Commissioning you are the “sparring partner” for the project leader. The role ensures the quality, compliance, and timely execution of the HVDC grid connection commissioning by reviewing plans and documentation, supporting testing activities, managing risks, and coordinating between contractors and TenneT stakeholders. You will
- Gain in-depth understanding of the HVDC grid connection system design and its components.
- Review and support the contractor’s overall commissioning logic and plans, ensuring alignment with relevant standards and TenneT requirements.
- Participate in the review of design and testing documentation; occasionally witness Factory and Site Acceptance Tests (FAT/SAT) for HV equipment and subsystems.
- Maintain an overview of all commissioning and testing activities and reports, ensuring timely delivery and compliance with quality standards.
- Identify and escalate technical and planning-related risks during project execution, ensuring clear communication with the contractor and TenneT management.
- Act as the interface between the project team and TenneT’s Operations & Maintenance department regarding maintenance strategies and spare parts needs, while promoting strict adherence to HSE standards.
You will work within the Large Projects Offshore Netherlands (LON) team, which plays a key role in the energy transition by developing offshore grid connections. This will be our challenge
Large Projects Offshore is a key contributor to the energy transition. The Unit is responsible for the current and future development of the offshore grid as a whole and subsequently for the development and realization of the DC interconnectors and the Offshore Wind Farm grid connections in both the German and Dutch sectors of the North Sea.

We offer:
- A permanent contract with a two-month probation period, based on 40 hours per week.
- A salary in grade 9: €4.675 to €9.196,- per month, with additional benefits such as health insurance, internet, and sport compensation.
- 43 vacation days per year.
- All mentioned employment conditions apply to a full-time position unless otherwise stated.
